Oehlert Alert 11/7/23
Hi Ramilies,
Welcome to November! It was a lot of fun to see our students (and staff) dressed up for Halloween last week. I can't wait to tell you latest terrible dad joke, but you'll have to read to the end to get it. On to the Oehlert Alert!
Girls Basketball
Girls basketball continues with games this week vs. Westlake MS. The 8th grade games will be held at Shadow Ridge this Thursday. Our JV game will be at 5:45 pm and the Varsity team will play at 6:45.
Athletics Admissions
As mentioned in last week's message, we are now charging for admission to athletic events as follows:
$2 students/senior citizens; $3 adults
5 Ridge Bucks entrance into home game
15 Ridge Bucks at store for VIP at a home game
Free District pass for senior citizens (Must have proof of residency within Ad12 Dst Boundary)
District punch pass ($20)
Winter Running Series
I wanted to share a unique opportunity for anyone in our community who may want to get some exercise and have some shared accountability this fall and winter. The Thornton Run Club is organized by the Cross Country coach at Horizon HS, but is open to anyone in the area. Individual training is customized and all are welcome. This can be a great way for you, or your students, to get (or stay) in shape during the winter.
They will be meeting at Century Middle School this Friday at 10 am if you are interested in joining. For more information, please email thorntonrunclub@gmail.com
Intramural Basketball (6th grade girls)
As Adams 12 has brought back middle school sports, we continue to refine and adjust to what our students and the community needs. One of those changes is to offer intramural sports for 6th grade students. This way they can learn or practice the fundamentals of a sport when it is in season. Currently, 6th grade girls are meeting (Intramural 6th BB ends Dec 21st).
Career Expo 8th Grade Field Trip
All 8th grade students will be participating in a field trip to the National Western Complex for the Career Expo this Thursday, 11/9/23.. This is a field trip that is put on for middle school students around the Metro Area to learn about different jobs and trades. Students have been practicing job and interview skills for this field trip. If you are the parent of an 8th grade student, please remind them to turn in permission slips if they haven't, dress appropriately on Thursday (think nice jeans and a collared shirt for boys, a dress or dress slacks and a blouse for the young ladies) and remember to bring their school IDs.
There is no school this Friday 11/10/23 in honor of Veterans Day.
Joke of the week:
My wife asked me how I always have candy, and I told her that I like to keep a few twix up my sleeve.
Have a great week and thanks for sharing your children with us.
Matt
