Vision

Shadow Ridge Middle School

The vision of Shadow Ridge Middle School is articulated by the following middle school standards that we continuously strive to maintain:

Instruction and Goal Setting

  • Promote literacy as the core of all learning.
  • Teach a curriculum grounded in standards that are relevant to adolescents’ needs.
  • Teach to a variety of learning styles with a variety of assessment methods.
  • Use "best practice" instructional methods that prepare all students to achieve high standards and reach their full intellectual potential, so that they are well prepared for high school and adult life.
  • Encourage participation and exploration in a comprehensive Arts and Humanities program, along with co-curricular and extracurricular activities that are supportive of the goals of the community and Shadow Ridge.

Professional Effort and Staff Development

  • Model the behaviors we want our students to emulate.
  • Employ and retain those best qualified to teach young adolescents.
  • Continue to engage staff in ongoing professional development and collaborative activities to improve student performance.
  • Maintain a partnership between administration and staff where they collaborate to examine practices and improve learning.

Climate

  • Provide a safe, positive and healthy school environment.
  • Provide the resources that are necessary for our students to excel.
  • Provide small communities for learning so each student will receive sustained individual attention and organize the school to build long lasting relationships for learning.

Family/Community Involvement

  • Model democracy by involving students, parents, community and staff in decision-making.
  • Encourage active participation of family and community in school activities, celebrations, and student’s learning.
